This Privacy Policy explains how B&W Co. Ltd. (“B&W”, “we” or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you access or use our wabi sabi journey websites, mobile application, or other online and offline services (collectively, the “Services”), and when you contact our customer service team, engage with us on social media, or otherwise interact with us.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make revisions, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of this Privacy Policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our website home page or sending you a notification). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

1. How we collect your information

We collect your information in several different ways, including:

i. When you give it to us or give us permission to obtain it

When you sign up for or use our Services, you voluntarily give us certain information. This can include your name, your email address, and any other information you provide to us.

You also may give us permission to access your information in other services. For example, you may link your Facebook, Twitter, or Google account (“SNS Accounts”) to your account on the Services (your “wabi sabi journey Account”), which allows us to obtain information from those SNS Accounts (depending upon the service, information such as your friends or contacts). The information we get from those services often depends on your settings or their privacy policies, so be sure to check what those are.

ii. When you use your services

In addition to log data, we may also collect information about the device you’re using the Services on, including what type of device it is, what operating system you’re using, device settings, unique device identifiers, and crash data. Whether we collect some or all of this information often depends on what type of device you’re using and its settings. For example, different types of information are available depending on whether you’re using a Mac or a PC, or an iPhone or an Android phone.   • Clickstream Data. When you’re using the Services, we collect your activity information (such as information about which videos or other content you clicked on, your interest level in each video and, which video you added to your favorite list) to get a better understanding of you and your preferences. For example, if you add a video to your favorite list, based upon that information, we may predict that you prefer videos in the same category and may recommend similar videos to you. Additionally, if you link your SNS Accounts to the Services, depending upon the information that we are able to obtain from those SNS Accounts (such as your educational history and professional experience), we may make similar assumptions about you and your video preferences.
  • Purchase Data. When you make a purchase through our Services, we collect information relating to the purchase, such as your name, email address, address (including postcodes/zip codes and country of residence), and telephone number, for analysis and customer list building purposes. We also collect your order history and cookies in relation to your purchase.
2. Why we collect your information and how we use it

We use the information we collect from you to provide the Services to you, make the Services better, develop new services, and protect B&W and our users. For example, we may log how often people use two different versions of a service, which can help us understand which version is better.

We also use the information we collect from you to offer you customized content, including:

  • Suggesting videos and other content that you might like. For example, if you have indicated that you’re interested in Japanese culture, we may offer videos and other content based on that genre.

We also use the information we collect from you to:

  • Send you updates (such as when there is certain activity on our Services, like video and other content being updated), newsletters, marketing materials, and other information that may be of interest to you. For example, depending on your notification settings, we may send you weekly updates that include videos and other content you may like. You can decide to stop receiving these updates by sending us a request to stop sending updates to you from the “Contact”.
  • Help your friends and contacts find you on the Services. For example, if you sign up using a Facebook account, we may help your Facebook friends find your wabi sabi journey Account on the Services. Or, we may allow people to search for your account on the Services using your e-mail address.
  • Respond to your questions or comments.
3. How and when we share information

We may share your personal information in the following situations:

  • We may employ third-party companies or individuals to process personal information on our behalf based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy. For example, we may share data with a security consultant to help us get better at identifying spam. In addition, some of the information we request may be collected by third-party providers on our behalf.

For example, we may share information with a partner on how many people added a certain video or another type of content to their favorite list or shared videos or other content, or the percentage of people who reacted as happy, relaxed, or inspired, their interest level towards video and other content after viewing it.
4. Transferring your information

The Services are provided worldwide. By using the Services, you authorize us to transfer and store your information outside of your home country, including from and to Japan or the United States, for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. The privacy protections and the rights of authorities to access your personal information in such countries may not be equivalent to those in your home country.

5. What choices do you have about your information?

Our goal is to give you simple and meaningful choices over your information. If you have a wabi sabi journey Account, many of the choices you have on the Services are built directly into the service or your account settings. For example, you can:

  • Access and change information on your profile page at any time, choose whether your profile page is available to search engines, or choose whether others can find your wabi sabi journey Account using your email address.

6.Our policy on children’s information

Our Services are not directed to children under 13. If you learn that your minor child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us.

7. Personal Information Management and Disclosure and Deletion Requests

This section provides additional disclosures required by the Japan Act on Protection of Personal Information and is applicable to all users of our Services:

  2. Name of the manager responsible for the protection of personal information: Personal Information administrator
  3. User requests for disclosure, amendment, deletion of, or termination of personal information usage: we shall promptly respond to your requests for the disclosure of, amendment to, termination of use of, or deletion of your personal information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and our internal policies. Please contact us via the email provided in the “How can you contact us?” section for further information about exercising your rights.
8. Information for California Residents

This section provides additional disclosures required by the California Consumer Privacy Act (or “CCPA”).

In the last 12 months, we collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, contact information, and device identifiers), internet, or other electronic network activity information (such as browsing behavior). For more details about the personal information we collect, including the categories of sources, please see the “How we collect your information” section above. We collect this information for the business and commercial purposes described in the “Why we collect your information and how we use it” section above. We share this information with the categories of third parties described in the “How and when we share information” section above.

Subject to certain limitations and exceptions, the CCPA provides California consumers the right to request to know more details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information, to delete their personal information, to opt-out of any “sales” that may be occurring, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not “sell” the personal information we collect (and will not sell it in the future without providing a right to opt-out).

California consumers may make a rights request by emailing us at support@wabi-sabi-journey.com . We will verify your request by asking you to provide information that matches the information we have on file about you. Consumers can also designate an authorized agent to exercise these rights on their behalf, but we will require proof that the person is authorized to act on your behalf and may also still ask you to verify your identity with us directly.

9. California Do Not Track Disclosure

B&W does not track its customers over time and across third-party websites to provide targeted advertising and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.
However, we may use Google Analytics to track your browsing activities such as when you visit the website, which pages you have viewed, and how long you have browsed the page.
